Leroy “The Cotton Man” McMillan, 81, of Tifton died Wednesday, Novembre 2, 2011, nella sua residenza. I funerali si terranno presso 2:00 p.m. il Sabato, Novembre 5, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Deacon Jerry Johnson will officiate with
eulogies given by Hollis Flanders and Tim Flanders. Keith McMillan, Gregg McMillan, Danny Griffin, Brian Jones, Dave Lomex Jr., Brian Sanders, Steve Roberts Jr., Tommy Whitley Jr., John David Taylor Jr., Wayne Hill Jr. and Justin Weeks will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Cato, Cory
Tawzer, Harold Tawzer, Harmon Tawzer, Glenn Tawzer, Carl Tawzer, Stephen Williford, Bo Eaton, Earl Copeland, Bruce Copeland, Timmy Dominique, John Weaver, James Hester, Larry Evans, Mike Lindsey, Grady Thompson, Bob Lynch, Emmett Womack, Kenneth Ross, Hugh Roberts, Tom Sprouse, Don Copeland, Buck McCranie, Buddy Smith, Cliff Dominique, David Bowers, Rusty Moore, Vance Bryan and Mike Owens. Sig.. McMillan was born on April 8, 1930 in Enigma and was the son of Burrell McMillan Jr., who died in 1971, and Laura Bell Lynn McMillan, who died in 1979. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, J. B. McMillan, who died in 1973, Merrill McMillan, who died in 2007, Leon Douglas McMillan, who died in 1985; due sorelle, Gladys Jones, who died in 2000 and Frances Cavender, who died in 1996; and one nephew. He was a retired farmer and served nine years on the board of the ASCS Office.
Sig.. McMillan is survived by his wife, Charlotte Leah Conger McMillan of Tifton, who he married on August 22, 1980; un fratello, Donald “Don Mac” McMillan of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Johnson of Tifton and Myrtice Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida; three sisters-in-law and their spouses, Joyce and Jesse Weeks, Sharon and Wayne Hill and Donna and David Taylor; 27 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Southern Care Hospice nurses, Gennie, Martha, Holly, Kristie, Crystal and Amber for their wonderful care of Mr. McMillan; and a special, heart-felt thanks to his special care-giver, Christi Lynn Conger Williams, who lovingly cared for Mr. McMillan for 18 months.
