Retired MSgt. Charles Gibbs, Sr. 80, of Ray City passed away Wednesday, Juan. 4, 2012 in South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 13, 1931 in Coolville, Ohio to the late Harry Albert and Freda Rae (Owens) Gibbs. Sr.. Gibbs was affiliated with New Bethel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force for more than 22 years and retired as an MSgt. After retiring from the United States Air Force he joined the Shoney’s team and served as a manager in Valdosta, Fitzgerald and Moultrie. He later worked with the Georgia Department of Corrections for over 20 years where he retired. He also served in the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Auxiliary for many years.

Sr.. Gibbs is survived by his wife of 57 año, Christell Gibbs of Ray City; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann Watson and Bob Krause, Winter Haven, Fla., Robin and Andy Ward, Carburador; hijos, Charles “Ray” Gibbs, Jr., Chad Gibbs, both of Ray City; seis nietos: Shannon Moore (Rancho), Candice Byrd (Jason), Jarrod Watson, Kristopher Ward, Kyle Ward (Katie), and Jessie Gibbs; nine great- nietos; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ginny and Robert Moore, Torch, Ohio, Nancy and Bill Bobo, Coolville, Ohio; hermano y hermana-en-ley, Bob and Doris Gibbs, Reidsville, Ohio; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
