Charles Brittian “Britt” Gaston, Jr., 55, of Waycross died early Saturday morning at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Charles B. Gaston, Sr., and Coralyn Proctor Gaston.

Britt grew up in Waycross where he graduated from the Southwood School. He then went on to the University of Georgia, graduating in 1981. At the University of Georgia he was President of the Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. After school he returned to Waycross to become Vice-President of his family business, Gaston Enterprises. He then moved to South Carolina, where he lived for eighteen years. In South Carolina he owned and operated Regional Graphics.

Britt enjoyed playing golf and was very spirited and dedicated to politics and the Republican Party. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waycross. In Waycross he will always be remembered as one of the young men who ran the bases in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium with Hank Aaron after he hit his 715th homerun to pass Babe Ruth as Major League Baseball’s all time home run leader. Britt was preceded in death by his father, Charles B. Gaston, Sr.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Brittian “Chase” Gaston, III, of Charleston, South Carolina, Parker Stephen Gaston, of Charleston, South Carolina, his mother, Coralyn Proctor Gaston of Waycross, two brothers, Greg Gaston and his wife Amy of Ashville, North Carolina, Van Gaston of Jacksonville, Florida, a sister, Lyn Jacobs and her husband John of Waycross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
