Dora Lavon McElhaney was born to the proud parents, Pink C. McElhaney and the late Oscie E. McElhaney on December 11, 1947 in Irwin County, GA.

In His infinite wisdom, God our Father, who doeth all things well and maketh all things work together for the good of those who love Him, called Dora Lavon McElhaney from her labor on December 28, 2011.

Dora received her early education in the Irwin Co. public school system and graduated from Blanche Ely High School (Class of 1965) in Pompano Beach, FL.

Dora had a strong work ethic and a readiness to venture. She worked and modeled at Habor Dress Shop in Pompano Beach. She even traveled the country selling magazines. Later she moved to Ft. She later added some of the best soul food and BBQ ribs; winning numerous awards and trophies. When her health begin to fail, she relocated to Valdosta.

She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She had many friends and would give freely even if it was her last. Though she birthed no children of her own, she was a “mother” to many.
