Mrs. Ella Jane Griffin Shaffer, age 77, of Wray, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, at Coffee Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Shaffer was born on July 1, 1934, to the late Franklin Reynold and Drucilla Harper Griffin in Wray. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Drurita Shaffer Nugent. She worked as a nurses’ aid at Coffee Regional Medical Center and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, D. V. “Bunny” Grantham and wife, Pam, of Screven; grandson, Reynold T. (Allison) Nugent of Willacoochee; granddaughters, Kristen Dru “Bunny” Grantham and Whitney Grantham of Jesup; great grandchildren, Raven Drurita Nugent, Thomas Rhett Nugent, Margie Klaira-Ruth Nugent and Khole Jane Nugent, all of Willacoochee.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 25, 2011, in the New Hope Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Carroll Carver officiating. Special music was provided by pianist, Judy Sturgis and organist, Jennie Lewis. “Go Rest High On That Mountain” was played by CD and Paula Johns sang “Softly and Tenderly” and “When The Saints Go Marching In.”
