Herman Terrell Ring, 72, longtime resident of Tifton, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Rev. Jackie Connell officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Steve Rutland, Crow Greene, Bobby Owens, Larry Spears, Donnie Revels, Sonny Ard and Ronald Spillers will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Ring was born Nov. 3, 1939, in Irwin County to the late Henry Benjamin Ring and Dollie Carolyn Cato Ring.

Mr. Ring had served in the Georgia National Guard and attended Tift Avenue Baptist Church.  He was a self-employed contractor and had a Murray Cookie Company route. Mr. Ring loved fishing on the flats of Northwest Florida and Lakes Talquin and Eufaula.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved his grandson, Zach.

Mr. Ring is survived by his wife, Edna Ruth Paul Ring of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris and Ashley Ring of Tifton and Dennis Ring of Lizella; one grandson, Zach Ring of Tifton; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Franklin A. Paul and Alton and Betty Paul, all of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
