Ivanelle Burke Fricks, 90, of Tifton, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Oakridge Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors on Wednesday for one hour before the service.

Vance Perry, Tommy Seward, Blake Perry, Tom Seward and Lee Huff will serve as pallbearers.

Born Feb. 9, 1921, in Rome, to the late Daniel Houston Burke Sr., and Bessie H. Burke, Mrs. Fricks was also preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Houston Burke Jr.

A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Fricks served as Sunday School teacher, president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service (United Methodist Women), a member of the Administrative Board, as well as a choir member at the Trinity Methodist Church in Rome. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton since 1992.

Ivanelle’s love of nature and art led her to become a flower show judge with the Federated Garden Clubs of Georgia. She was also an avid bridge player. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Ivanelle lived her life joyfully. Fun-loving and vivacious, she enjoyed her family and many dear friends and will be missed by those she leaves behind.

Ivanelle is survived by her husband of 65 years, George Robert Fricks of Tifton; her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Robert Christenbery of Charlotte, N.C.; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Tommy Seward of Tifton and Harriet and Vance Perry of McDonough. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Molly and Lee Huff of Greenville, S.C.; Blake and Samantha Perry of Wauchula, Fla.; and Tom Seward of Bonaire, as well as her great-granddaughter, Annalee Huff of Greenville, S.C.
