James E. (Jimmy) Long, Jr., 74, died Tuesday at home in Midway after a short illness.

Mr. Long lived in Glennville most of his life before retiring to Isle of Wight 25 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a Methodist.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Howell, of Palm Coast, FL; sons, Darrell L. Long, Sr., of Pembroke Pines, FL, and David J. Long, Sr., of Miami, FL; brother, Tommy Bateman of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in Hinesville. Graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Midway Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Dan Pegram officiating.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Long, Sr., David Long, Sr., Darrell Long, Jr., Alan Howell, David Long, Jr., Steven Tyson, Jr., and Travis Long.
