Jane Katherine “Janie” Henshaw Spires, 54, of Tifton, died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. James Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonite. Randall Mullis, Terry Ross, John Jarman, Mike Willaford, Chet Hannah, and Tony Spires will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Spires was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Tampa, Fla., to Cecil Henshaw and Katherine Jane Colson Henshaw, both of whom preceded her in death.
Mrs. Spires was the first lady master barber in Tifton. She loved to fish and to work in her garden. Mrs. Spires was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and she enjoyed working with young people from unfortunate circumstances.
Mrs. Spires is survived by her husband, Roger Cadwell Spires of Tifton; one son, Dwayne Allen Spires of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Diane Hanley and James Hanley of Tifton; three brothers, Walter Beheeler of Florida, William Beheeler and Edward Beheeler, both of Thomasville; and one grandchild, Angelite Jana Hanley.
