Leon Ivey Davis, 57, of Brunswick passed away Dec. 5, 2011, after an extended illness. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; two sons, Keith Davis and Michael (Polly) Davis of Brunswick; two daughters Tina (Ben) Davis McDowell of Hortense and Ashley Davis of Brunswick; one sister, Robbie Bailey of Brunswick; three brothers, Ronnie (Bonnie) Davis of Darien, Rusty (Regina) Davis of Brunswick and James (Sondra) Davis of Dunn, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Chase Davis, Jonathon Davis, Jenna Davis, Abbie Davis, Hillary Jones, Trey Davis, Ivey Davis, Ben McDowell, Jacob McDowell, Leean McDowell, Kayleb McDowell and Maddox Trifero; and one great-grandson, Kyler Tanner.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents. William H. and Dorothy Davis; a brother Artie Davis; a grandson Devon Davis; and a nephew Kyle Davis.

Born on August 24, 1954, in Macon, Leon moved to Brunswick in 1964. Leon began a career in public services with Glynn County Fire Department where he graduated from the Georgia Fire Academy. He was an EMT and arson investigator. He retired after 22 years as a lieutenant. Leon found a passion in law enforcement and began another career with Darien Police, where he graduated from POST Mandate school. Leon served as a deputy with McIntosh Sheriff’s Office. He was currently serving as Deputy Marshall with Brunswick Police. Leon graduated from many schools, but most notably from University of Georgia and ATF Arson Academy. He was a POST certified general instructor and speed detection instructor. Leon enjoyed many hobbies in life, but cherished his time with his wife, grandkids and other family members. Leon was a member of Live Oak Lodge #137 and numerous other organizations.

The family will receive friends at Edo Miller and Sons funeral home Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Blythe Island Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Darien.
