Mary Helen Nobles Tucker, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning, February 24, 2012, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Crosland, August 13, 1931, she had lived in Pierce County for the past 39 years. She worked the switchboard at Memorial Hospital (Satilla Regional Medical Center) before going to work as a stenographer with CSX Transportation where she later retired. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she taught the Senior Women’s Sunday school class. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and church family. She enjoyed her garden and being outdoors and was a great cook and loved to embroider.
She was a daughter of the late Dan Joseph and Mary Bass Nobles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Austin Tucker; two sons, Danny Tucker and Johnny Tucker; two sisters, Hazel Coburn and Juanita Kintner and all three of her brothers, D. J. Nobles, Wesley Nobles and Harold Nobles.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jimmy Carter, Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Tucker, Waycross; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Ed Harrell, Winter Haven, FL; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Nobles, Lakeland, FL; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Julian (Dean) Tucker, Jesup; four grandchildren, Priscilla (Cameron) Johnson, Marla DeLoach, Christen (Chad) Maxwell and Lindsey (Rusty) Tatum; five great-grandchildren, Natalie DeLoach, Emma Johnson, Brett Austin DeLoach, Tucker Keith Tatum and Slade Johnson; a special nephew, Clifford Tucker, Dayton Beach, FL and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
