Mary Sue Chappell, age 69, of Alma died early Thursday morning February 9th, 2012 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late John Wesley Johnson and Dorthy Meeks Johnson and was also preceded in death by a son, Marty T. Chappell and a brother, Lavern Johnson. Mary Sue was employed with the City of Alma for many years working in the 911-EMS Department and recently as secretary for the Alma Police Department. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Fred Thomas Chappell of Alma, a daughter, Lisa Hodges and husband Kevin of Alma, a brother, Larry E. Johnson of Alma, two sisters, Betty L. Taylor and Deanie M. Ellis of Alma, two grandchildren, Logan and Zoie Hodges of Alma.
