Anita Paige Marchant Hand, 72, of Tifton died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Omega Methodist Church. The Rev. Roger Mays and Greg Hester will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hand was born Feb. 21, 1939 in Omega and was the daughter of Emerson Marchant and Oveda Carter Marchant, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Darwin M. Hand. She was retired from Steve’s Cycle Salvage and was a member of Omega Methodist Church. She was an avid racing fan, loved her dogs, Betsy and Bojangles; and, next to her heart, she loved her family.

Mrs. Hand is survived by one son, Michael Hand of Lawrenceville; one daughter, Anita K. Hand of Tifton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carter and Emily Marchant of Columbus, Donnie and Donna Marchant of Tifton and Carlton and Lea Marchant of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Kenny Hawkins of Tifton; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Anne Marie Sims, Mikel McMillan, Shannon and Greg Hester and Kim and Robbie Baker; and five great-grandchildren, Melody Eberhart, Shane Sims, Elijah Hester, Kailyn Hester and “Lil” Robbie Baker.
