He was born November 29, 1937 in Lanier County to the late Hubert Rash and the late Mitty Mae Singletary. He was a retired first sergeant with the U.S. Army with 20 years’ service. He participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry for his service in Vietnam. He was a mason in Duncan Lodge 234, member of the Nashville Post V.F.W., and a member of the Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Madine Stone Rast, of Nashville; two sons, Raymond Rast, Jr of Columbia, S.C., and Steve Rast of California; daughter, Shirley Pallant, of Exeter, Calif.; stepson, the Rev. Steve Jones of Canton; stepdaughter, Sheila Duskin of Irmo, S.C.; brother, Wayne Rash of Frostproof, Fla.; sister, Judy Lavender of Sebring, Fla; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
