Retta Mae Oldfield Culbertson, 84, of Ocilla, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors at 11 a.m., Monday with Bishop Shelton Smith and the Rev. Pat Suggs officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
D. J. Culbertson, Justin Culbertson, Lee Heath, Nathan Harper, Bobby Tarrant, Doyle Spears, John Boy Bowen and Allen Ledford will serve as pallbearers.
Born Oct. 31, 1926, in Mount Sterling, Ky., Mrs. Culbertson was preceded in death by her husband, James Renney Culbertson.
Mrs. Culbertson had worked for the Becker Groves Citrus Nursery in Fort Pierce, Fla. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling. She liked to go to yard sales and was fond of cats. Mrs. Culbertson was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Culbertson is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Elizabeth Culbertson, Tommy Culbertson, and Terry Culbertson, all of Ocilla, Lonnie and Peggie Culbertson of Stuart, Fla. and David Culbertson of Soperton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda Heath of Ocilla and Lois and Dwight Prestridge of Wauchula, Fla.; one sister, Betty Martin of Winchester, Ky.; one brother, Cecil Oldfield of Mount Sterling, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
