Rev. Joseph Rogers Porterfield, Sr., 80, of Savannah, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 in Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ralph W. and Josephine Belcher Porterfield and brother Rev. Ralph W. Porterfield, Jr.
Rev. Porterfield was a United Methodist Minister of the South Georgia Conference. He served churches throughout the conference and retired from Trinity United Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga.
He was a graduate of Cordele High School, and he continued his education at Valdosta State College and Emory University.
Survived by his wife, Donnie Donaldson Porterfield, children Diana Porterfield Anderson (Glenn) and son Joseph R. Porterfield Jr., (Carol), grandfather of John Gascho and Taylor Porterfield.
