Ruis Wallace Phillips, Sr., 86, of Quitman passed away Wednesday Aug. 10, 2011 at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Moultrie, Ga. he was the son of William Luther and Alice Lucille Denkins Phillips. He was the owner/operator of Phillips Bay station and a member of Quitman First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Ruth Snow Phillips of Quitman, two daughters; Sharon (Larry) Lodge of Quitman, Becky Kannon of Pell City, Ala., one son; Ruis (Paula) Phillips, Jr. from Hahira, seven grandchildren; Emily (Austin) Wynn, Jennilee Phillips, Logan Phillips, Elisabeth Kannon, Justin (Amber) Lodge, Adam Lodge, Austin (Keri) Lodge, four great grandchildren; Thomas, Hannah, Laura, and Jacob Lodge, brother; Harold (Lorene) Phillips of Quitman.
