Shelby Jean Rowan, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February13, 2012 at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Parmer and the Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Rowan was born December 28, 1943 in Boyle, MS to the late Benjamin E. and Myrtle Warren Coleman. She graduated from Berrien County High School and moved to Fitzgerald after her husband retired from the US Army in 1987. Mrs. Rowan was a member of Crossview Baptist Church and the Samaritans Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear and Shoney’s Inn. Mrs. Rowan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Billy C. Rowan of Fitzgerald; children, Darlene Courtiade of Fitzgerald, son, Billy C. & Karen Rowan, Jr., of Clearmore, OK and Lisa & Al Mattos of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Sheay Bean, Casey Rowan, Wylee Dean, Mikey Rowan, Billie Marie Rowan, Evan Courtiade, Andruw Mattos, Erin Courtiade, Ella Rose Mattos and Nicolas Mattos; sister, Virginia Cornelius of Nashville and a brother, Richard Coleman of Ray City as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Buddy Coleman, Pearlman Coleman, Buster Coleman and Sonny Coleman and a sister, Robbie Moore.
