Wilma Brannon, age 72 of Douglas, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011, at St. Joseph’s-Candler Hospital in Savannah following an extended illness.

Mrs. Brannon was born in Pearson, Ga., to the late George and Annie Jane Bledsole Duggan on April 22, 1939. She had worked as a sales floor associate at Walmart. Mrs. Brannon was preceded in death by her daughter, Delaine Brannon Hires.

Survivors include her husband, James Brannon of Douglas; one daughter, Deborah Brannon of Douglas; one sister, Lorraine Shellnutt of Birmingham, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Heather and Lucas Hires.

Graveside services were held Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Royals Church Cemetery in Atkinson County with Rev. Den Weniger officating. Music was provided by Mindy Conner, Polly Ballentine and Heather Hires, who sang, “Beulah Land” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.”

Pallbearers were Courtney Fletcher, Craig Craithers, D. J. James, Lucas Hires, Freddie Davis and John Davis.
