Carolyn Naomi Sammons, 75, of Tifton, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Tommy McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.Willis Marchant, Mike Heath, Scott McBrayer, David Cone, Tommie Lamb and Tommy Day Smith will serve as pallbearers. The Ruth’s Sunday School Class of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.Born August 1, 1933, in Wrightsville to the late Otha Lee Sammons and Mattie Mae Carter Sammons, Ms. Sammons was also preceded in death by a sister, Bronnie Brown; a daughter, Florene Giddens; and a grandson, Wayne Horton. Ms. Sammons was a caregiver for Home Health Services. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton where she was active in the Ruth’s Sunday School Class, the Eastside Sanctuary Choir, and the Senior Adult Choir. She loved her church and she loved to keep her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Ms. Sammons is survived by five daughters and five sons-in-law, Ernestine and Mike Farmer of Ocilla, Pam and Glynn Joiner of Willacoochee, Florence and Dean Hayes of Lenox, Diane and Troy Barber of Tifton, and Elaine and Ronald Hudson of Ocilla; one son and one daughter-in-law, Buddy and Angie Giddens of Lenox; nine grandchildren, Angie Griffin, Karen Kilpatrick, Dana Horton, Shannon Hester, Jenifer Newell, Kim Baker, Jacey Barber, Hannah Jones, and Brianna Giddens; 11 great-grandchildren; four nieces; two nephews; six great-nieces; and five great nephews.
